Driver Detained for Reckless Street Racing in Argentina

Buenos Aires, February 23 (NA) – The driver of a Volkswagen Amarok pickup truck was detained for performing reckless maneuvers during a street race in a dune area of the seaside city of Villa Gesell. Videos, accessed by the Argentine News Agency, show the motorist accelerating at full speed alongside other UTVs and motorcycles in a highly congested area where tourists were watching the Summer Enduro, a quad and motocross competition held since 1992. In this context, Police and Traffic inspectors carried out the arrest of the individual involved, while also seizing the vehicle, which was taken to the municipal yard. Meanwhile, Mayor Gustavo Barrera stated that “if you race in the streets, you go to jail” and confirmed that the National Road Safety Agency (ANSV) will request the driver's disqualification.
